Artist's Statement:
An autobiographic story about the life changing experience that is breast cancer. As the second leading cause of death in women it is an experience that is shared by one in eight women. One side shares thoughts, feelings, and experiences from my journey through breast cancer. The reverse side of the quilted pages represents the journeys of 64 other women. Printing only first names, age of diagnosis, and years living cancer free, I highlight the range of ages at which this disease manifests and the hope of survival. Though the text is minimal it is intended for maximum impact. It is my desire that this book communicate and connect with the viewer in a profound, unforgettable way through the softness of cloth and the warmth of a quilt.
