A Canadian Stew
INGREDIENTS
3 hockey pucks
7 woolen touques
Canadian national anthem,
mumbled indistinctly
1 order of poutine, large
5 litres of Tim Horton's coffee
4 stale donuts
1 freshly deep-fried beaver tail
10 litres of Maple syrup
1 "2-4" of Molson Canadian beer
In a Canadian tire, combine hockey pucks, touques, National anthem and
poutine. Thoroughly dowse with Tim Horton's coffee and mix well. Let
stand for several minutes, all the while shouting "Gidday, eh!".
Add stale donuts, beaver tail and maple syrup to sweeten. To prevent
the stew from becoming too cloying, inebriate with entire "2-4" of
Molson Canadian. Stir mixture with hockey stick until good humoured.
Remove concoction from tire, wrap in parka and chill outside for six
months at -40 degrees C. Return to tire and bake outside at +30
degrees C for two months. Cool for one month. To determine if stew is
ready, bump the tire and wait for an apology.
For that gourmet touch, present in a Mountie's hat, accompanied by a
nice Niagara Pennisula ice wine.

Artist's Statement: Abundance of Pleasure
I was looking up the word, feast, for another project and the definition of “an abundance of pleasure” hit home. I carried the dictionary out to my studio, prepared the tools for embossing on my felts, dusted off a long mirror, locked the door and took off my clothes. The feast you see in the embossments is a mirror of the abundance of pleasure I experienced through touch, caressing, mirror work and easing into the flow of how sexual my body can be in the moment. When I discard the armouring of clothing and allow the air, light, warmth, colours, sensations to connect with the sexual energy, it becomes a feast. It is this abundance of pleasure in each moment that I have hidden in many aspects of my world. It is my belief that in every moment there are mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and sexual energies- and to block and not acknowledge these aspects of self is to stop the pleasure of who I am as a human being.
