In-Studio Workshops

Click here for current workshops - currently CBBAG is only offering online workshops due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition to its in-person courses, CBBAG has a Home Study Programme. Click here for detailed information

Home Study courses offer an alternative for the core curriculum to in-studio workshops though both the Independent stream and the Guided streams. A watercolour paper marbling course is also available.

Please check with your local CBBAG chapter for updates on planned events in your region.

CBBAG Chapter Workshops:

To find out what your local chapter is offering as in-person workshops, please visit the Regional Chapters section. The new online format for workshops will be offered by any chapter that is interested and listed on the workshop registration page.

Core Curriculum Courses:

CBBAG has developed a series of core curriculum courses, which can lead to the CBBAG Certificate of Completion. More information on the Certificate of Completion can be found at the bottom of this page.

General Information

Note to Non-members:

  • If you plan to take a workshop which requires you to be a CBBAG member, please register for the workshop you are interested in at the non-member price. The non-member price includes a one-year CBBAG membership, so you do not need to join CBBAG in a separate step. Once you are a member you simply need to log-in to get the member price on additional workshops (please note that it may take a few days before your membership is processed).

  • The GTA chapters offers some in-person courses that are open to both members and non-members alike for the same price.

Certificate of Completion:

  • CBBAG gives a "certificate of completion" on completion of all six of the core courses whether taken in-studio or a combination of in-studio and Guided stream Home Study. The six are Bookbinding I, II, and III, Restoration & Repair, Finishing, and Paper Treatments for Binders. Please note that only Bookbinding I, II and III are available through the Guided stream of the Home Study Programme; therefore, in order to qualify for a Certificate of Completion, one must complete Finishing, Restoration & Repair, and Paper Treatments for Binders in-studio. The Certificate of Completion is not formal accreditation. However, CBBAG has had students who were already working in conservation jobs who started back at the beginning with CBBAG, completed the six courses, and were extremely pleased with the mass of material they had learned and found it extremely useful in their work.
