Greater Toronto Area Chapter

The GTA Chapter covers both members in the Greater Toronto Area as well as Ontario members who do not live in the catchment areas of the other two Ontario chapters.

The GTA chapter offers in person and online workshops that are listed under the Learn menu item.

We welcome members and the general public to our chapter meeting, when we talk and share ideas about a variety of topics related to workshops, projects and chapter's initiative.

The next meeting is September 28th, 2022 7:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada).

If you would like to join us, please send an email request to cbbag.gta@gmail.com

LISE MELHORN-BOE

May 6 to September 9, 2022

Textus-Texts-Textiles explores the relationship between textiles and texts, via textile bookworks by Lise Melhorn-Boe, supplemented by books as cultural texts and technological artifacts from the collections of W.D. Jordan Rare Books and Special Collections Library. Curators: Brendan Edwards and Ella Heiss.

Lise Melhorn-Boe has been excited about textiles for most of her life and has been making artist's books for over forty years. In her Sewing Poems series of books (fabric books using poems about sewing and needlework as text) she explores a variety of needle arts, including dressmaking, embroidery, knitting, petit point and quilt-making.

The exhibition is accompanied by an online exhibition and a catalogue, available on blurb.ca, at the gallery, or from the artist. (See pdf attached below.)

More information about the books on the artist's website.
