This two-day workshop will introduce participants to the delightful Star Book - a construction with a tie at the fore-edge which allows the book to be dramatically displayed in an opened state.  This structure has a definite "wow" factor!

During this workshop, a number of scale models will be prepared in order for participants to explore variants frequently associated with the Star such as the Carousel and the Stick Book.   In addition to the models, participants will complete a Star Book - personalized and/or embellished to their taste.

All the basic materials for making these structures will be supplied; however, for those who wish to create a highly personalized Star Book, then any of the following are recommended or suggested: 12-month wall calendar of your favourite theme, a dozen of your favourite 4x6 photos. (Any printed subject matter will work well as long as it is printed onto heavier paper such as card stock.)

Barbara Helander holds two degrees (B.Ed., M.Sc.) and her major in both was Clothing & Textiles. Her professional career was spent in apparel manufacturing where she worked in a variety of capacities ranging from product development to quality assurance. She currently acts as a textile consultant and also teaches textiles at Seneca College. In her spare time, Barbara runs a small keepsake business that includes creating one-of-a-kind books. Barb has worked her way through the core CBBAG courses and was pleased to earn her certificate in the spring of 2010.
