Learn how to make “The Elbum,” a fun and clever album structure which holds its pages by gripping them into a series of articulated narrow pockets. A treasure of paper engineering, this project is also a great introduction to concertina folding by hand. This technique is perfect to create an evolving portfolio, an artist’s book, or an original album.
Delphine Platten has a master's degree in philosophy and has always been passionate about books and the technical approach of working with different materials. In 2004, freshly arrived in Montréal QC she met Odette Drapeau, a key figure in the creative binding world, who became her mentor. She started her apprenticeship under Odette’s direction and then worked in her studio for more than 5 years. Delphine completed her training by obtaining a collegial diploma in art conservation techniques. Her creations are now part of the collection of the National Library and Archives of Québec.
