These are boxes that every booklover/ artist/ bookbinder needs to know how to make. Starting with the basics of box design, construction and materials preparation, this four-day course begins with a simple lidded box and moves through hinging techniques, non-standard shapes, drawer styles and built up constructions such as are used in jewellery boxes, clamshells, and boxes with sliding lids.

Techniques for covering with leathers, papers and prepared cloths will be explored with the aim of equipping students with the tools for designing and executing purpose-built structures.
