Online Workshop: Three Unusual Accordions with Barbara Helander

Three accordion structures will be presented in this workshop: the lenticular, the woven accordion, and the waterfall.

These structures were chosen not only because they are uncommon, but because of their ability to offer a variety of presentation modes – from wall hanging, to album, to double-sided. These accordions will appeal to book artists and bookbinders alike.

Join Barbara as she walks through the construction of these three accordions and shares her tips on how to make them.

Over the course of her 35-year career, Barbara Helander has earned two degrees (B. Ed., M.Sc.- Clothing & Textiles); worked in apparel manufacturing; and was a professor of textiles at Seneca College. Barbara worked her way through the CBBAG core curriculum courses and earned her Certificate of Completion in 2010. She is a core curriculum instructor for CBBAG and a mentor for the Home Study programme. Recently Barbara has been part of the team that transformed Bookbinding 1 for virtual learning. Her website can be found here: https://bookartsbarb.com
