In Person Open Studio Workshop: Paste Paper with Dan Mezza

Paste papers have been produced for hundreds of years as an inexpensive way to provide a decorative paper. Pigmented paste is applied to the surface and patterns are created in it using a variety of tools. By using the same process on cloth, you can add both pattern and stiffening to make your own bookcloth.

Please note: This is an open studio event. Although a brief demonstration of the process will be offered at the beginning, you will be working without further formal instruction for the two-day period. Dan Mezza will be on hand to answer questions.

Dan Mezza is a papermaker, bookbinder, and restorer living in London, Ontario. He studied bookbinding with Don Taylor and Betsy Palmer Eldridge, and papermaking with Helmut Becker. Dan is a graduate of the Visual Arts Programme at the University of Western Ontario and is a past president of CBBAG.
